25 years of Tonsley and counting…

Everything, and nothing…

It has taken Floody 25 years to pull his finger out and redesign this website for the smartphone era. But we’re still proud of the original.

Back in the days of dial-up modems, when we had to scan in Kodak photos or maybe use a crappy digital camera Joe had borrowed from work, we were putting party photos on the interweb – a while before Zucker/Winkle Bros had thought of Facebook.

It was a time when Woolfy spent eight hours a day “stockbroking” Tonsley spiels on a little PC (with a mahogany-veneer monitor) in a highly productive office in Richmond, and when anyone’s idea of a smartphone was a Nokia with Snake.

The site has now been rebuilt from the bottom up. Every photo has been remastered wherever possible. Hundreds of new photos have been unearthed — including those after-parties in the kitchen. Artefacts have emerged from cupboards. And we’ve added nearly 50 videos that weren’t really plausible before broadband (that’s really how old the last site was!).

It even works on phones and tablets at last. Tablets were for headaches in 2001.

And some of the stuff we weren’t quite sure we should publish back then? That’s here, sorry HR. But if ‘woke’ means more to you than what you did this morning, being modern and conscientious, we do have a version of this site for you here.

Nothing lost. All the memories. And a few bonuses.

Tonsley Totty even works again… and the globe still spins.
