The
Dorchester 2002 | | |
 |
Not
your standard Wednesday evening this. By kind invitation, we recently attended
the St John's Ambulance "Magic Christmas Ball" at The Dorchester on
Park Lane. The evening's entertainment included magicians,
musicians, Rory Bremner's satirical talents and a Sotherby's auction (although
without any of Tonsley's own auctioneer's knack for devious exponential escalation
of bids!). And three anonymous guests were still
enjoying the Dorchester's kind hospitality at 3.30 in the morning. Unsurprisingly,
one of them didn't make his 9 o'clock meeting in Reigate! | |

But even the earlier evening was not without event:
Pedro rocked up desperately trying to keep a pair of 38" trousers to his
waist and had to raid Maggie's sewing box for safety pins. Apparently this is
a downside of Niki's rigorous training schedule. And in leaving his last meeting
in Basingstoke an hour before kick off, Strenner discovered that Volkswagen's
claimed top speed for the Golf is significantly understated! Against all odds,
a fine effort by all and, boy, it was worth the mad dash...
...thank
you Patrick and Maggie for your kind invitation! | AF |
