Autumnal Charity Ball 2001

Total Raised:
£5,028.64 (and a Polo mint)

Well the memories of 6th October and the Autumnal Ball will live long in the minds that occupy Tonsley Towers!

The biggest, most ambitious and arguably most ridiculous project yet launched by the Tonsley Events crew saw 188 people fed and entertained for a whole seven hours. So much for the initial idea that we would organise just a small "Black Tie" event that might raise a grand or so for charity, by the time we had finished we had a project that had a total turnover of over £17,000, an auction and raffle that raised over £4,500 and an online auction site that eBay have expressed an interest in acquiring!

The evening had many high points including the phenomenal atmosphere caused by the auctioning of the signed David Beckham shirt, the sight of one rather attractive young lady (called Helen) completing half a dozen "chin-ups" in the middle of the dance floor, the delight on Andrew Dart's face at winning two tickets to the women only Sanctuary Health and Beauty Spa, the despair on Andrew Dart's face as he realised he wouldn't be allowed to use them (!) and, for two lucky souls, 15 minutes of "extracurricular activity" in the "Ward Room" downstairs!

Finally we would like to thank all those who supported the evening. Whether it was those people who managed to sell tickets to their friends, those who so generously donated prizes or money for the event, those who bid so enthusiastically in the auction, those who made Rob's night such a memorable one or those who have given us a copy of the security video of what happened in the Ward Room that evening. Respect to you all!

Floody presents the big cheque to Glanfield leader, Jo Fernandes

If you still have any money in your wallet, then you might want to have a look at the items in our Online Charity Auction and see if you can't finish your Christmas shopping without getting out of your seat! As before all the proceeds go to the charity, the Glanfield Childrens Group.

Thanks all for coming and supporting this deserving cause. You have allowed 10 disabled children the trip of a lifetime with the Glanfield Childrens Group. We really enjoyed seeing you there.

Oh, almost forgot... if you have something to say, scandal you feel it would be remiss not to share or an idea for the next one, then feel free to voice it on the Noticeboard.
